Equestrian Chic High Fashion: Moschino Fall/Winter 2013-14

Fashion houses often look to equestrian influences when designing their Fall/Winter collections. After all, blazers and tall boots are some of the most classic and appropriate pieces for crisp autumn days. This year, Moschino designer Rossella Jardini debuted her distinctly British/Equestrian inspired F/W 2013-14 collection at Milan Fashion Week.

An editorial just published today on Moschino’s website refers to this collection as the “Moschinoshire”.

Images that bring the story to life; a mood board in emotional sequence; snapshots of details and stolen moments from which emerges the elegance of Ann Bofoey Taylor, a horseback riding and skiing enthusiast – these are the starting points for the Moschino Fall/Winter 2013-14 (M-Shire: Tales of the Moschinoshire, Editorials, ).

The inclusion of rich tartan patterns throughout the collection represents a definite nod to the heritage of Scotland’s textiles.

Another theme at play in this collection is the saying “plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose”: “The more things change, the more they remain the same”. This quote alludes to the reason why equestrian chic fashion is such a classic and timeless influence used by various designers each fall. English riding apparel has changed very little over the past century and is deeply rooted in tradition.
